Camps
At the time of migration, most of the people could not arrange accomodation at Jammu
and other places and in order to address their problems, the Government established
camps at different places. In most of the camps, tented accomodation was provided
which was subsequently replaced with one room tenements (ORTs). Some Govt. buildings
were also occupied by the migrants. The details are:

Note: The camps as indicated at S.No. 2,6 & 7
have been closed and the migrants have been shifted to the two room tenements (TRTs)
constructed under Prime Minister's package.
Infrastructure in the Camps:
In addition
to the residential facilities provided to migrants living in the camps, the Govt.
has created other social infrastructure required by the migrant families. The details
are as under :
- Education : The Govt. has established camp schools at various places
where all facilities such as library, laboratory, computer labs have been provided.
The details of such schools are as under:

- Higher Secondary School, Muthi,
- Higher
Secondary School,Roop Nagar.
- Higher Secondary School,Purkhoo,
- Higher Secondary
School,Nagrota,
- High School,Mishriwalla,
- Health :Health centres with sufficient
staff have been established in camps. Free medicines are being provided to the migrants
in such centres. Also in two centres i.e. Purkhoo and Muthi, additional facilities
such as X-Ray, Ultrasound, Pathological labs have been provided. All health centres
have been provided with the facility of ambulance.
The details of such health centres are as under:
- Muthi: 2 Nos.
- Nagrota: 1 No.,
- Purkhoo: 2 Nos,
- Mishriwalla: 1 No.
- Social Infrastructure :It was observed that for organising get togethers and
other social functions there was no space available to the migrants within the camps
and accordingly community halls were constructed for such purposes. The details
of community halls are as under:
- Muthi: 2 Nos.
- Nagrota: 1 No.,
- Purkhoo: 2 Nos,
- Mishriwalla: 1 No.
- Water Supply: Sufficient arrangements
have been made for providing of water supply.
- Power: For providing of quality power
supply, 31 substations have been created in the camps. These stations are being
maintained by PDD.
- Sanitation: Concrete lanes and drains have been provided in the
camps. In ORTs --- no. of community type bathrooms / toilets have been constructed
and are being maintained by NGOs.
- New Schemes
The Hon'ble Prime Minister during
his visit to Muthi Camp in 2004 announced for constitution of a committee called
inter ministerial team for preparing a rehabilitation plan for Kashmiri Migrants
to cover their developmental needs especially those related to their living condition
in the camps.
On the recommendation of the Inter Ministerial Team, a project for
construction of 5242 two room tenements(TRTs) with an estimated cost of 345 crores
was sanctioned and construction of such flats was taken up in phases from December
2005 onwards.
Phase I: Under Phase I, construction of 1024 flats(Two Room Tenements)
with total project cost of Rs. 51 Crores was taken up and has been completed. The

All facilities such as water supply, power, sanitation, inner roads,
parks have been provided in the newly constructed complexes. The allotment process
for Phase I has already been completed.The migrants living in the camps which have
been closed as indicated above have been shifted to these newly constructed TRTs.
Phase II: A big township comprising of 4218 flats has been planned at Jagti (Nagrota)
for accomodating the remaining migrants living in one room tenements of various
camps. Hon'ble Prime Minister laid the foundation stone in the month of July 2007
and work is going on in full swing.

for a population of 25000 souls.
- Project Cost = 294 Crores.
- Land = 718 Kanals.
- No. of flats = 4218 sets (176 three storeyed Blocks, 8 sets per storey, Floor
area 495 sft per set).

- Healthcare = 30 Beded Hospital.
- Community Centres
= 3 Nos.
- Educational Facilities = 1 Hr. Sec. School & 2 Middle Schools.

- Parks = 40 Nos.

Water Supply = 135 Ltrs / Capita / day.
- Power Supply = 20 MVA station proposed
for township.
